Hello and
thank you for visiting our website. My name is Lori Enright and I
live in Southern California with my husband, Jim. Jim and I have
been married for almost 29 years (by the grace of God) and we have
two grown children as well as a foster son in whom we are well
pleased. The Lord has been faithful to provide our beloved daughter
with an exceptional husband and now our beloved son has been given a
wife that surpasses them all. We live everyday with such gratitude
for our children and the blessing the Lord brings to us through each
one of them. Praise God for their faith in Him.
With the assistance of Swine Genetics International, Prof. Steven
Moeller of Ohio State, Tim Harris of Tim Harris Associates, and the
generosity and expertise of KuneKune breeders, Andy and Maureen Case
of Long Ash Farm (Dorset, England), Jim and I imported our purebred,
registered KuneKune Pigs in 2005 and have been promoting the breed
in this country since that time. With our first litter arriving in
June of 2006, we began to provide those enthusiastic about the breed
with breeding stock of their own. Recently, we have been able to
obtain additional breeding lines bringing our total of boar lines to
three and our sow lines up to three as well. We have Cyndi Berry of
Kunekune Preserve USA to thank for these new pigs and will be
forever grateful for the kindness she has shown to us and for the
breed.
We have used our pigs as part of a project we developed for 4H
called "Rare Livestock Breeds Conservation". We hope that others
will follow suit and help to spread the word about this special
breed of swine along with other rare livestock breeds. Kunes are
unusual being a wattled breed, small, colorful, and extremely
friendly and easy to handle. They are hardy little pigs and unique
in their ability to do well on grass alone. And it doesn't have to
be good quality pasture as once thought. Our friend, Maureen Case,
wants everyone to know that these pigs will thrive on a field of
weeds!
In 2006, Jim and I founded the American KuneKune Breeders
Association (& Registry) to provide to breeders of purebred
KuneKunes an official record keeping organization. We will be
holding our first annual "KuneKune Conference" in conjunction with
the Country Living Association's Country Lifestyle Experience farm
show in Albany, Oregon on April 16 - 18, 2010. See the website for
AKBA at
www.AmericanKuneKuneBreeders.com.
Jim and I are members of the British Kune Kune Pig Society and the
New Zealand Kunekune (Breeders') Association. Feel free to contact
us regarding these associations and the KuneKune Pig breed. We are
happy to assist you in any way that we are able. Take care and God
bless! |
